How much real progress towards Awakening do we make in one lifetime?
I think our progress happens in relationship to how much of our non-Dharma habits we can transform in a lifetime.
Suppose I have a habit of not finishing what I start - - let's say writing songs, for instance.
I fancy myself a songwriter and I have great seed ideas for songs but somehow, they never quite get done. Many alibis, many reasons, but they're still not done.
What would it take to break out of this mold and pour my heart into songs fearlessly? What is holding me back? Will I ever finish what I start?
Songs are songs; awakening awaits the transforming of habits.
