Please keep in mind the families and the animals whose homes and lives have been swept away or submerged by the unprecedented flooding in Queensland, Australia. Behold how in a few minutes a small creek turns into a flash flood. Truly I've never seen a flood of this proportion or this force come out of nowhere. The photos are taken from behind an office building in the city. Toowoomba is 79 miles southwest of Brisbane.
You can donate to the flood relief efforts at Queensland Government Appeal here. I know that prayers are also most helpful at this time.
I remember as a child, I used to chant the Great Compassion Mantra somewhat half-heartedly, especially during the 108 rounds. But now as an adult, and as I face life's trials, I find the Great Compassion Mantra an invaluable source of power and comfort. It is like you are in the dark, but within you have the power to light the way ahead and change the situation. It is very subtle and wonderful! This appreciation comes only after many years but better late than never? I hope more people feel the same way as I do about it.
